The effectiveness of the Byrna launchers is equally dependent on the performance of the launcher and the effectiveness of the ammo. Byrna’s ammo is designed specifically to optimize the performance of Byrna’s launchers and Byrna launchers should only be used with Byrna ammo.


STRONG YET FRANGIBLE

In developing the Byrna Pepper, Byrna Max and Byrna Pro-Training rounds, Byrna’s R&D team took great pains to engineer the outer shells to be sufficiently frangible so that they would easily break upon contact with the target (even when wearing puffy clothing), while ensuring that they would be strong enough not to crack or rupture in the launcher. This required the introduction of circumferential break lines and a “variable wall thickness” design. 

 

BUILT TO EXACTING TOLERANCES FOR GREATER JOULE ENERGY AND ACCURACY

Byrna’s rounds are also built to exacting tolerances and are the truest and most consistent projectiles on the market today. The exceedingly tight tolerances allow us to manufacture projectiles with the largest possible nominal O.D. This ensures maximum kinetic energy and accuracy without the risk of jamming. This level of precision can only be accomplished using Byrna’s proprietary, state-of-the-art, Sphere Assembly Machines (SAM) that ensure consistent mass and flawless welds.

MAXIMUM CLOUD FORMATION AND HANG TIME

Regardless of the potency of the round, if the powder does not form a large enough cloud or hang in the air long enough, the effect of the chemical irritant will be muted. Byrna has worked to develop a payload that is both extremely potent and exhibits maximum dispersion characteristics. Because of the cloud formation, these rounds can disable the intended target even if the projectile does not hit the suspect directly. It is for this reason that chemical irritant rounds are used by law enforcement to apprehend suspects that are hiding behind a wall or barricaded in a room.
